Ben Rayer

Ben has 30 years of experience working in public education. He is passionate about reinventing school to be more equitable and student-centered. Ben has done many things in his career including founding and running a network of student-centered learning charter schools. Ben also worked as the Chief Charter, New and Turnaround School Officer at the School District of Philadelphia. In this role, he was responsible for the operation and performance of 130 schools. Prior to his time in the school district, Ben was the Chief Operating Officer of Mastery Charter Schools. He also worked as the Special Assistant to the Superintendent in Philadelphia and began his career as an urban school teacher as part of Teach For America.
Ben graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, received an Master’s Degree in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a 2002 Fellow of the Broad Superintendent’s Academy.
